The Aureate
locations silverthread seelie player-safe
Type: District of Silverthread — Seelie Quarter Status: Active, warm, increasingly defensive
Overview
The Aureate occupies the western part of Silverthread, built into and around the largest tree in the canopy. Its platforms are broad and well-maintained. Everything here is considered, ornate, and slightly too perfect.
The dominant aesthetic is warm wood, hammered gold leaf, crimson tile rooftops, and hanging lanterns filled with captured sunlight rather than flame. Nothing burns in the Aureate. The Seelie consider open fire vulgar.
Visitors are welcome, so long as they remember their manners.
Atmosphere
Busy during the day, quieter and more watchful at night. The smell of pressed flowers and cedar. The faint sound of stringed instruments from upper platforms. Conversations stop when strangers enter rooms. Hospitality that comes with strings you may not notice until you’ve already accepted it.
Key Locations
The Archive of the Golden Court — The Seelie Archive. Holds Silverthread’s official history as the Seelie Court recognizes it. Run by Archivist Thessavel Orn, who is not hostile but is territorial.
The Court of Petals — The Seelie noble meeting hall, built on the highest platform in the Aureate. Currently meeting daily. Where decisions are made — and where people are quietly ruined.
The Golden Arbor — Expensive, beautiful lodging for Seelie-aligned guests and anyone who wants to be seen staying here.
Tallowmere Provisions — General supplies, practical goods. Run by Ferryn, a gnome who knows where everything is within six inches and doesn’t care about the succession dispute.
The Folded Leaf — Bookbinding and restoration. Small, easy to miss. Run by Aelindra, who is careful about who she trusts but direct once she does.
The Sheathed Thorn — Weapons, discreetly sold. A single sword in the window display, like jewelry.
The Amber Pestle — Alchemy. Run by Sable Ennis, who charges mortals standard rates and fae a complexity fee.
Silverflow Fountain — An ancient carved fountain at the center of the Aureate’s main platform. The Seelie treat it with careful reverence and do not claim to have built it.
Attitude Toward Outsiders
Politely suspicious. The Seelie will answer questions with questions and offer hospitality that comes with strings. Non-Seelie visitors are noticed — not stopped, just noticed.
Getting There
The Silverspan connects the Tangle to the Aureate — the longest bridge in the city. The Goldwalk runs from the city gate directly to the Aureate entrance.
