Date played: TBD Location: The Feywild

Morning in the Feywild, after their first night there. Fap was standing beside Silenus when he woke, silent and watchful, as if he’d been standing there for some time.

Wanting water, the party split their attention. Matuk found a sturdy branch and fashioned it into a dowsing rod with the patient confidence of someone who has done this before, even if he hadn’t. While he worked, Clever slipped quietly to the edge of the clearing for a few minutes alone. When the party regrouped, a small stash of mushrooms had gone missing from someone’s pack, and an argument started that has never fully been resolved.

Matuk’s instincts, helped along by a remarkable stroke of luck, led them straight to a river. At its edge, two enormous shapes rested in the reeds — land whales, bodies built entirely of driftwood and bramble, worn smooth by years of water. Luna sat beside one in quiet reverence. Dash studied the shallows, watching small crabs and darting fish, and noted something larger stirring in the deeper channel — horse-sized, and in no hurry to be seen clearly.

Following the river brought them to something that defied the river entirely: a reverse waterfall, two hundred feet of water falling upward into the sky. Matuk went first, tying himself off and walking straight over the edge to find safe footing in the current — and took a hard fall for his trouble. The others fared better, rappelling down one at a time, though Silenus lost his grip partway and took a tumble of his own.

The forest beyond the falls bowed its trees out of their path as they entered, which nobody commented on, because by that point in the Feywild it almost seemed rude to. Dash scanned for danger and found exactly one wasp, crawling along a nearby trunk, entirely unconcerned with any of them.

The path opened into a clearing. A single tree stood at its center. Small twig-like creatures emerged from the brush and surrounded them. They didn’t attack. Each one issued a personal challenge.
